Daytona Beach bills itself as the "World's Most Famous Beach", as
well as the "World Center of Racing". It is, indeed, a town with
many personalities. Daytona Beach has been a destination for racing
enthusiasts since the early 1900s when automobiles first raced on
the beach.
There are almost unlimited activities to enjoy such as
swimming, volleyball on the beach, sailing, jet skiing, fishing,
boating, biking, golf, and beachcombing. There is always something
going on at Daytona Beach such as beauty contests, hot dog or snow
cone eating contests, free concerts and more. The city's famous
pier and oceanside boardwalk is lined with a multitude of
restaurants, bars and shops. During Spring break, the town belongs
to college students and thousands visit during Bike Week. People
looking for more privacy usually enjoy the extreme northern or
southern end of the beach. Daytona Beach is also just a short drive
to other Florida attractions such as Walt Disney World, Sea World,
Universal Studios and Epcot Center.
